Project Manager

We’re looking for a unique individual to be a part of the creative and technical process for high end immersive and guest experience spaces.  As a Project Manager, you will participate and help oversee the design of projects, manage client expectations, and coordinate regularly with consultants and stakeholders.  This individual will oversee the process from start to finish to ensure that the design intent matches the delivered space.  As a Project Manager, you understand the work flow from the initial blue sky process through construction administration.  More importantly you have experience in each discipline, a passion for design and architecture, and experience in delivering complex projects.  As part of a small boutique firm, you understand and can adapt quickly to a variety of creative and technical tasks on a daily basis, and you are willing to wear several hats as needed.  This unique individual will have the opportunity to participate AND serve as the go-between in both the creative and production process to ensure each project they oversee progresses efficiently and accurately.  The ideal candidate is able to problem solve quickly and creatively.  This is a key role in ensuring project success and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and vision of projects starting with the blue sky phase.

  • Able to listen and translate client expectations into concepts and eventually built environments.

  • Ability to demonstrate ideas visually using a variety of media.

  • Strong working knowledge of architectural detailing for fabrication and ability to design within target budgets.

  • Intimate management of projects from initial idea to final completion.

  • Liaising with clients to understand business and project needs.

  • Ability to source a variety of unique consultants, and have a good working knowledge to lead each in accomplishing the design objectives set forth for each project.

  • Proofing and reviewing designs and checking documents before they are sent off at varying progress levels.

  • Strong working knowledge of building code, or proven ability to navigate the complexities of code to document design decisions.

  • Ability to create, implement, and manage: schedules, deadlines, project milestones, production staff expectations, and workflows to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery.


About You:

  • You have at least 7 years of experience spanning the following:

    • Drafting using CAD and/or REVIT software.

    • Serving in the capacity generally found with upper level architectural practice and management.

    • Conceptual design.

    • Managing consultants and fabricators, while also possessing a general understanding of a variety of fabrication methods.

  • Licensed Architect (preferred but not mandatory)

  • You enjoying working directly with clients and maintaining client relationships.

  • You are proactive and you add value to a small team.

  • You have strong oral and written communication skills that aid in the process of conversing with clients, designers, agencies and consultants in moving projects forward in a timely manner.

  • You can effectively communicate complex ideas in a presentation setting to a widely diverse audience.

  • You have excellent team-building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

  • You have a genuine passion for the work you do, exude positive energy, and are able to maintain an open minded approach.

  • You are able to work effectively even under pressure.

  • You are well organized!



  • Licensed Architect (preferred but not mandatory)

  • Software Proficiency (this is a summary of minimum needs, additional software proficiencies are a plus):

    • Auto CAD

    • REVIT (a plus, but not mandatory)

    • Photoshop

    • Illustrator and/or Inkscape

    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    • MS Project or Preferred Equivalent

    • Bluebeam or Preferred Equivalent

    • Sketchup

  • Strong working Experience In The Following:

    • Ability to draft and assemble working drawings as needed.

    • Ability to effectively lead and assign drafting work flow to junior staff.

    • Ability to create illustrative shop drawing details.

    • Ability to specify materials applicable to the given project.

    • Ability to manage and oversee the process of design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

    • Ability to truly value engineer without compromise to the design intent.

    • Maintain CAD standards and quality drawings.

    • Ability to work directly with fabricators and consultants to produce effective, clear and decisive working drawings that coordinate with all disciplines.

    • Managing junior staff at various levels and skill sets.

    • Growing junior staff in a variety of skill sets.

    • Ability to sketch and communicate graphically complex ideas to a diverse audience (junior staff, clients, consultants, fabricators, and agencies)

    • Overall project management:

      • Gathering and organizing initial design intent guidelines.

      • Meet with the authorities having jurisdiction to determine initial code compliance.

      • Participate and/or provide initial code check oversight.

      • Provide ongoing code analysis in design decisions.

      • Filter daily decisions to keep a project on schedule while maintaining the design intent.

      • Make sound decisions with little supervision as it affects the design objectives and ultimately the delivered project.

      • Manage junior staff in executing the development of the working drawings to maintain a high level of quality and meet the projected schedule.

      • Manage the progress of consultants and fabricators.

      • Review submittals and manage alternate solutions.

      • Participate and/or manage the construction administration process as needed.

  • Participate in regular team and management meetings.

  • Make suggestions to improve processes and policies on a regular basis, and provide methods for implementation.

  • Enrich the company culture and motivate staff.

This project management position is a “lifeline” in the overall execution of a project, and works with all levels of staff, the various governing agencies, and a wide variety of client personalities.  The Project Manager plays a vital role in keeping a project moving forward internally while balancing client expectations.  The project manager should possess an interest in taking ownership of a project knowing that the final client experience and satisfaction is a direct reflection of you as an individual, as well as FUNRULY®.
